Saguaro the Cactus PREVIEW
Once upon a time there was a cactus named Saguaro who lived in the hot Sonoran desert. He was considered to be very big and very old. He didn’t even remember how old he was: either he was 200 or maybe 250. He only remembers when he was a very small cactus, the land around was different as there were many flowers, trees, animals and insects, much different than now.
The land gradually dried up over time, as less and less rain fell, birds and animals left their native places and went to look for better lands. Only very strong plants and small animals could adapt to this arid climate. Saguaro helped everyone as much as he could. He allowed woodpeckers to make holes in his mighty body so that small birds and animals could hide from the sweltering heat, breed and raise offspring.
The Cactus allowed many large birds to build nests on the uppermost branches. He really liked it when the birds woke up at the first rays of the sun, looked around the desert and exchanged news.
